About MedTechIndex

Hi, I'm Blair MacGregor.
Founder & Publisher, MedTechIndex
I built MedTechIndex partly on a whim, but also in response to what I've come to see as a fairly fragmented—and sometimes confusing—medical device industry.
I've spent much of my nearly two-decade career working in digital marketing, particularly in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and online publishing. Along the way, I've worked with brands and organizations including Novartis, Sanofi, and Bristol Myers Squibb.
In early 2025, while developing my consulting practice at Endura Growth Partners, I became interested in medical supply companies as potential clients. My thinking was that my background in healthcare publishing, search, and content strategy could be particularly useful to manufacturers and distributors looking to establish greater visibility and authority online.
But the more I researched the industry, the more I came to appreciate just how complicated the medical device marketplace can be.
The relationships between manufacturers, distributors, healthcare providers, and end users aren't always straightforward. Some manufacturers sell directly, others rely on distribution partners, and many do both. Purchasing processes vary considerably depending on the product, the buyer, and the market.
And finding reliable information about those relationships isn't always easy. It's often scattered across manufacturer websites, distributor catalogs, regulatory databases, and industry directories, with varying degrees of accuracy and completeness.
And frankly, I've always hated directories full of outdated information. They end up being a colossal waste of time for the end user.
So I started building something that I hoped could make at least some of this easier to understand.
What We're Building
MedTechIndex is an independent medical technology intelligence platform designed to make information about medical device manufacturers, their products, and their commercial activity easier to discover and understand.
The platform brings together company information, regulatory milestones, clinical evidence, partnerships, and other publicly available data into structured manufacturer profiles.
Our aim is to provide a useful starting point for professionals researching companies and technologies across the medical device industry—not to replace regulatory databases, manufacturer documentation, or independent due diligence.
Information is gathered through a combination of AI-assisted research and human editorial review, with an emphasis on identifiable sources, transparency, and accuracy.
You can learn more about how we compile and review information in our Editorial Guidelines.
Still in Beta. And Still Learning.
MedTechIndex is still very much in beta as we work to better understand what information is most valuable to our users, how they use it, and where we can help eliminate some of the friction involved in finding it.
Feedback is an important part of that process, particularly from people accustomed to piecing together information from multiple sources.
That might mean identifying medical devices that have received FDA 510(k) clearance in a particular category or region, discovering alternative products worth considering, or simply getting a clearer picture of the companies operating in a particular segment of the industry.
The goal isn't to have every answer on day one. It's to build something genuinely useful and continue improving it based on the needs of the people who use it.
To that end, we welcome feedback—positive or negative—as well as feature requests and suggestions for improvement. You can reach us through our contact form or directly at [email protected].
