Company overview
INBRAIN Neuroelectronics is a Barcelona, Spain-based neurotechnology developer founded in 2020. Its graphene neural interfaces are designed to record and stimulate neural activity. The pipeline spans cortical brain mapping, an implantable Parkinson’s-focused therapeutic platform, and peripheral bioelectronics through subsidiary INNERVIA. Its website limits devices to investigational use and targets first product commercialization in 2027, subject to regulatory progress.
A University of Manchester-sponsored first-in-human brain-mapping study used the cortical interface during brain-tumor surgery at Salford Royal Hospital. The registry marks the study completed in June 2026 with ten enrolled; the company earlier reported eight surgically treated patients with no device-related adverse events through discharge. This small feasibility study does not establish long-term safety, Parkinson’s efficacy or broad clinical adoption. The company reports a 2023 FDA Breakthrough designation and 2024 TAP participation; neither constitutes marketing authorization.
INBRAIN announced a $50 million Series B in October 2024, led by imec.xpand, and a later September 2025 report put cumulative financing at $124 million. Documented collaborations include Merck KGaA for peripheral bioelectronics, Mayo Clinic for investigational clinical development, and Microsoft for AI research. MINIGRAPH work reported in October 2026 adds preclinical robotic implantation research. Scott Huennekens chairs the board, with Carolina Aguilar serving as CEO and co-founder.
