Company overview
LaNua Medical is an Irish medical device developer and University College Dublin spin-out founded in 2024. Led by CEO and co-founder Tom Fitzmaurice, it is developing ECORE for interventional radiologists treating vascular disorders and cancers through minimally invasive embolization.
ECORE uses an umbrella-shaped occlusive structure intended to block blood flow in a selected vessel segment while allowing guidewires and catheters to pass through it. The design aims to support controlled delivery of embolic agents or other therapies downstream and limit unwanted reflux into adjacent vessels. These are development objectives rather than established clinical benefits.
The company operates from the ATU iHub in Galway and raised €6 million in seed funding in December 2024. It also leads a separate €6 million DTIF-funded ECORE project with UCD and Integer Holdings, focused on development and clinical validation. That award funds the collaborative project and is separate from the company’s seed round.
