Company overview

Pulmera is a medical technology company headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, and led by CEO Kevin McGann. Its CBeam platform is designed to extend the imaging capability of compatible C-arms already installed in hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers.

CBeam combines hardware and reconstruction technology to produce intraoperative 3D images from a compatible 2D C-arm. The current website identifies the GE OEC Elite 31 cm CFD C-arm as compatible; that specification should not be read as support for every C-arm model.

The platform received U.S. 510(k) clearance in May 2026, and Pulmera reports clinical use beginning in August 2026. Its commercial focus is orthopedic and neurological surgery. An NCI-funded programme is also investigating additional compatibility and lung-biopsy applications, which are separate from an established lung-biopsy indication.

Products & regulatory status How does MedTechIndex get this information?

Summary

FDA cleared C-beam under K252735 on May 22, 2026. The Class II system is intended for 3D visualization in orthopedic and neurological surgical procedures. Compatibility is model-specific rather than a blanket authorization for all C-arms. [1][6]

Pulmera’s September 2026 NCI award supports further research, including possible lung-nodule biopsy applications. That research programme should not be presented as an additional cleared indication. [1][6]
